The Whetstone Park was officially dedicated in late May, 1950.  By clicking below, you will be able to review the commemorative booklet that was then published by The Clintonville Community Council.  The booklet includes numerous pictures of Clintonville churches, schools, and theaters - along with the master plan for the park.

Note the Columbus City Limits (building activity east of the railroad did not accelerate until the 1960s.  Interstate 71 and the Northland Mall replaced farms - as did the many housing subdivisions that quickly followed.  In the late 1950s, the proposed path of the northern leg of Interstate 270 was through the now Blind/Deaf Schools ravine, just north of the Rathbone Road...)
